MindfulnessIn my life, it can often feels like I am always on the way to somewhere. As if my mind is constantly going a head trying to predict and remove all the obstacles in the future. The faster I go the harder it gets to calm down and be present and if I am not careful, I simply forget to enjoy the wonderful moments that are available on the way. This is not OK and therefore I practice and teach mindfulness meditation.
Three things you can get from practicing mindfulness
1. More enjoyment and intensity in life
Life consists of a long, but final line of moments, and personally I want to taste and enjoy as many of these moments as possible! Of cause it is not a big drama when you forget to taste the food at a single meal, because you are somewhere else mentally, but if you forget to taste life year after year, then it is tragic. The minfulness techniques train your ability to be present and experience and enjoy life. It may sound trivial, but what could be more important.
2. Techniques to find peace
Practicing mindfulness will give you practical techniques to calm down and avoid stress. Most people are very good at pulling themselves together and speed up, but many people don’t really know, what they can actively do to calm down. The mindfulness techniques are designet, so that they regulate the autonomic nervous system and thereby creates a state of peace and ease in the body and in the mind.
3. Increased ability to contain the present moment
Everybody will regularly experience difficult situations, physical pain and intense feelings like fear, sadness and anger. Systematic practice of mindfulness will enhance your ability to contain these intense moments. Basically it means that you can avoid panic and getting lost in your own reactions. This does not necessarily make the unpleasant feelings go away, but you can control that the situation does not escalate.
What is mindfulness?
Many people offer classes in mindfulness, but really what is mindfulness? Unfortunately it is hard to describe mindfulness in a few lines on a website, without sounding very superficial. Please contact me for any further inquiries.
