Teaching Yoga
Although yoga can be very beneficial, it is also possible to get hurt doing yoga. Therefore I focus on teaching the poses in an anatomically sound way and in sensible sequences. Techniques can almost always be done in several variations on different levels, to fit the physical and mental state of the individual student. On top of this I emphasize that people listen and respect the limitations of their own body.
Are you too old to play?
On the other hand we can also become too cautious. We can easily think: “I am too old to do this” or “My body could never do that”. Habitually thinking in these ways can bring us down and prevent us from using the body to play, which is sad and unnecessary. I therefore often challenge my students to play with advanced poses, because even though they may not be able to do them, its still fun.
Fuck full lotus
Really it isn’t important which poses we can force our bodies into. Therefore I find the focus on flexibility within yoga to be a bit annoying. It is not great yoga to sit in full lotus! What makes it yoga is what is going on inside the body. It may look great but if we sit there to impress others then perhaps it would be better yoga to sit on a chair. What is important is how much awareness we invest in what we do. How authentic we dare to be and how much peace and pleasure we feel in the body.
Where do I teach
I teach private classes and courses in my own studio in Østerbro. I teach in a couple of different places, but I only teach regular open classes at Hamsa Yoga Studio in Nørrebro. For a time schedule see:
